Carbon Reduction Plan

Our commitment to achieving Net Zero

 

At QuantSpark, we are deeply committed to driving sustainable change within our organisation and beyond. As part of this commitment, we are proud to introduce our Carbon Reduction Plan, which outlines our strategic approach to minimising our carbon footprint and aligning our operations with a more sustainable future. 

Guided by science-based targets, we are dedicated to reducing carbon emissions across all aspects of our business, with the ultimate goal of achieving Net Zero Carbon Emissions by 2050. 

Through innovation, collaboration, and ongoing evaluation, we aim to integrate environmental responsibility into the core of our decision-making, ensuring a positive impact for generations to come.

Scope 1

Emissions from sources that the organisation owns or controls, such as burning fuel in vehicles or combustion in boilers and equipment

Emissions from the generation of purchased energy, such as electricity, steam, heating, and cooling

Scope 3

Emissions that occur in the value chain of the organisation, but are not produced by the company itself. This includes emissions from the use of sold products, business travel, and the extraction and production of purchased materials and fuels

Emissions reduction targets

 

Some of our strategies include:

  1. Working with building management to ensure that utilities come from renewable sources.
    1. Impact - reduces Scope 2 emissions by approx. 90%, saving approx. 11.5 tCO2e per year.
  2. Ensuring that we purchase the most efficient computers and equipment with Energy Star certification to reduce energy usage.
    1. Impact - saves 1 tCO2e per year.
  3. Consolidating office supply orders to reduce transportation emissions.
    1. Impact - saves .5 tCO2e per year.
  4. Educating employees on the emissions difference between vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals (2.28kg/meal vs 5.79kg/meal) to encourage environmentally friendly choices.
    1. Impact - saves 3 tCO2e per year.
  5. Implementing waste reduction and further encouraging recycling programs.
    1. Impact - saves .5 tCO2e per year.
  6. Hosting sustainability workshops or training for employees to encourage personal carbon reduction.
    1. Impact – Indirectly reduces Scope 3 emissions by fostering sustainable habits, saving 1 tCO2e per year.
  7. Implementing smart systems to turn off devices after hours.
  8. Creating a Green Team to monitor progress of carbon reduction and create future suggestions.
  9. Beginning to work towards the PAS 2060 (Carbon Neutral Certification) to achieve a carbon neutrality certification.

Our Targets

We project that carbon emissions will decrease over the next five years to approximately 40.39 tCO2e by 2030.

This is a reduction of approximately 30%.
